I went on a shopping spree. Apparently this is an expensive hobby.

Ruslan and Lyudmila is heavenly. This music is fresh and unusual and the film features a very young Anna Netrebko. She is all I remember from this opera when it played in SF, besides the costumes and the conductor, Valery Gergiev. The Russian stuff was Lotfi Mansouri's best repertoire.

Essential Angela Gheorghiu. Very nice, although I do have trouble keeping these Russians straight.

Vance George conducting the San Francisco Symphony Chorus "Voices 1900/2000". I expected better.

I'm interested in seeing Caballe Beyond Music.

I don't know that I'm cut out for a lot of record reviewing. I like about 5% or less of classical music recordings and really love only a tiny number. Most of which I have already mentioned. I am searching for the tiny number I would love, which might put me into poverty.

If it helps, Angela is in fact Romanian.
The Montse doco is glorious, one of the best of its kind that I've seen.

Yes. When I woke up this morning it popped into my head, "Angela is Romanian." Doh!

The "U" at the end should have given it away.
