We were also treated to a brochure for next season's high definition broadcasts live from the Met.

I will not have to go to NYC to see Romeo et Juliette with Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon because it is first on the schedule on December 15, 2007. I can hardly wait. When they appeared together on the screen in Dayton, the crowd applauded. They are wonderful individually, but they are magic together.

Christine Schaefer as Gretel and Alice Coote as Hansel will perform on New Years Day, 2008 in Hansel and Gretel in English. I understand the interest in Schaefer after seeing her in last year's Salzburg Nozze di Figaro. Her Bay Area recital gave no clues.

Macbeth is on January 12, 2008. They don't say who sings Lady Macbeth.

Karita Mattila sings Manon Lescaut on February 16. Paul's wife's beloved Dwayne Croft is Lescaut in this production.

Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes will be conducted by Donald Runnacles. This is a new production. I haven't seen a version of this that I liked, but I'll go anyway.

Tristan is on March 22 with Deborah Voigt and Ben Heppner in that ghastly production that was broadcast on pbs a few years ago. I'll have to be in the mood for this.

La Boheme will have Angela Gheorghiu and Ramon Vargas on April 5, 2008. I like Angela more and more, so I will probably see this.

I won't have any trouble convincing myself to see La fille du Regiment with Natelie Dessay and Juan Diego Florez. This should be a real joy.

Overall I will have to say that none of these will top Eugene Onegin from this season but should be a great collection with something for everyone.
