James Levine's successor

Antonio Pappano, the current musical head of the Royal Opera House, has been rumored to be the intended successor of James Levine at the Met.  He responds, "complete bollocks".  This shows how long he has been in England.  I admit he would be an excellent choice.

The only possible American, if I may suggest, would be Kent Nagano.  Would a conductor want to leave Munich (or London for that matter) for New York?  Europe is now the center of the operatic world.
