I attended the Fathom Event of Jonas Kaufmann's Puccini recital at La Scala. It was lovely, of course, but he was so flattered that they loved him, he kept doing encore after encore. When he finally sang something not by Puccini, I went home. He was looking exhausted. The emotional intensity of the film was greater than on the recording.

He closed the program with a second rendition of "Nessun Dorma" and, somewhere around fifteen bars in, totally spaced out the lyrics for a few seconds. He was obviously tired. My wife was especially pleased with the two arias from "Fanciulla," which is her favorite Puccini opera. BTW, they're doing it here in Denver in the 2016-17 season. And speaking of next season, we're planning to come to S.F. sometime in September to see "Andrea Chenier," only awaiting the opening of individual ticket sales to decide which date.
Hi Paul. I knew he was going to space out and I didn't want to watch it. I'm ging to Andrea Chenier.
