Making music

Quote from James Levine on why he keeps on doing it: "It is because this is an art form of such stimulus, such brilliance, such challenge, such satisfaction, that when you do get even part of one of these masterpieces right, you can feel like you are walking off the ground for quite a little while."

There is simply nothing like making music, and writing about it does not provide at all the same satisfaction. Ones perception of any work grows and changes over time. No matter how well something is done, it is always possible to improve on perfection.
